The Glory of the Story – Glimpses 2

Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours. (Matt 17:27)

So he bent over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them (Lk 4:39)

He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm (Lk 8:24)

When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit (Lk 1:41)

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it (Jn 1:5)

The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. (1 John 3:8)

The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities (Col 1:15,16)

“Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” (Rev 5:5)

But we see Jesus, made a little lower than the angels… crowned with glory and honour (Heb 2:9)

And they sang a new song, saying:

“You are worthy to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased for God
persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.
You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God,
and they will reign on the earth.”

Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they were saying:

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honour and glory and praise!” (Rev 5:9-12)

The King of Kings is born in Bethlehem and the heavens are open to wide-eyed shepherds.
Sing, dance, exchange gifts and good wishes. Forgive, be at peace with one another. There is something bigger than ourselves.
The King of Kings is born in Bethlehem.
