Just a reminder of how serious this battle (SSM) is.

The three great risks to Western civilisation are:

  • the rebellion against what it means to be created in the Image of God, a rejection of who God is and what it means to be human.
  • the threat to marriage and family, the move to re-define male and female and thus ultimately destroy the fabric of society.
  • the challenge to freedom of belief and to speak of what we believe – to speak the truth.

These three core elements are the basis of the Manhattan Declaration, the Westminster  Declaration and the Canberra Declaration.

It is the latter of these threats that should concern us most as Christians. We will be persecuted for telling the truth. As has happened elsewhere we will lose our freedom to pull our children out of classes that teach opposing values and we will even be limited in what we can teach our children at home. State indoctrination of our children is the end result.

What has brought this about? In part it is the New Atheism, in part the social engineers and left-wing ideologues, but more than anything else it is the homosexual push for same-sex marriage. Legalisation of same-sex marriage will be the catalyst for anti-discrimination tribunals to exercise control over Christian speech and belief.

Losing the fights against destructive embryo research, against abortion (no, we have not lost that yet), against euthanasia or eugenic selection would be tragic and we would be in moral free-fall but losing the fight against same-sex marriage will herald a new age of Christian persecution.

It seems that a vote is likely this coming week. I believe that if we can hold off the push for same-sex marriage this year the momentum will lessen as people become tired of the illogical arguments in its support. It is time to pray.

We need to persevere in prayer for activation- awakening – of the Body of Christ: that we are engaged in a spiritual wresting match! We can overcome through the blood of the Lamb & the word of our testimony – not clinging to life even in the face of death! Revelation12:11
Ultimately the Lord will have His way.Psalm33:11

I also pray opening of the eyes of our opponents in this battle. A Saul to Paul change would be handy.
    Blessings

    Unfortunately – PM Kevin Rudd’s comments are neither logically sound or accurate. I hope listeners will check out and be informed in their thinking about what the Bible says and what the Science says;

    1) regarding the Bible – The PM cites the Apostle Paul’s comment about slaves being obedient to their masters as a logical parallel to legitimise homosexuality. Paul’s comment in respect to slaves in the New Testament is not about legitimising slavery but rather the equality that is in Christ (Gal 3:28-29) and submitting to one another out of reverence to Christ (Ephesians 6). This doesn’t mean that the slave is the same as the master, the child is the same as the Father, the female is the same as the male, nor the wife is the same as the husband. On the contrary these roles are shown to be distinct- to be functionally sound. The same apostle Paul clearly also writes in the New Testament (Romans 1) that homsexual relations are sinful. Neither is it the way God created us to be.

    2) regarding the Science – Same sex couples cannot reproduce naturally and they never will. Neither is there a gene that causes homosexuality. Even if there is such a predisposition gene, it cannot be passed on genetically without heterosexual means. (Is a predisposition to theft, murder, paedophilia make such actions right?). Consider also the medical evidence that homosexuals (especially male) are more at risk in terms of venereal disease (eg, HIV infection, human papilloma virus, anal cancer) than heterosexuals as well as other diseases such as parasitic amebiasis, rectal gonorrhoea and infectious hepatitis A. How can such same sex relationships anatomically, functionally and genetically be the means of building a functional society and contribute to its survival.
The issue at stake is the definition of marriage as clearly stated by Jesus (Matthew 19:4) and to undermine the Christian heritage that made us a great nation. Are there social and financial inequalities that need to be addressed?. Of course there is BUT these inequalities can and must be addressed in terms of the social service arena. We already have laws addressing the inequality of couples who are married and those who are not married in terms of welfare and family benefits. (To say that couples who are not married ARE married in order that they are not disadvantaged is ridiculous – There is no need to)

Marriage is between a male and a female – biblically, logically and socially as the foundation of society. The family unit based on this clear definition is what makes for a sound society and perpetuates the human race.

    Blessings
    Victor
