Book Review: Christian Foundations of the Common Law, Volume 1: England by Prof Augusto Zimmermann

Exciting? Yes, the book – not the review.

Me? Get excited about a book on law?

It was a sheer delight to understand how far back the Judaeo-Christian ethic has been the basis of our law.

I found it greatly reassuring.

It is NOT difficult to read.

And yes, sadly but realistically, Professor Zimmermann points out in the concluding words that the Christian roots are under threat (as we know) from “progressive” ideas “that no longer recognise the authority of a higher law”.
